The Marist Laity
(Mary, Queen of Peace Confraternity)
Who Are We?
The Marist Laity are the lay members associated with the Fathers & Brothers of the Society of Mary, a Catholic religious order. The Marists, as we are known are more members of a religious movement whose apostalate is to be "Mary in today's Church" by working to foster a more Marian Church, i.e., a church with the characteristics of Mary. A Marian church has greater community and is more inclusive, reconciling, compassionate, and merciful. We teach Marist Spirituality which is focused on ridding ourselves of "self-centeredness", the root of all sin. And we are focused on missions that help those of us in the Parish "move beyond ourselves" as we reach out to those who are marginalized and on the fringes of the church and society.
What Do We Do?
We meet monthly to learn about, discuss, and apply Marist Spirituality, we promote through education the important role of Mary in salvation history, we help bring others closer to Christ through the promotion of devotions to the Blessed Mother such as the Consecration of Children Born & Unborn, and we provide help for those marginalized through our Kenya and Brownsville mission projects.
Where and When Do We Meet? How are we contacted?
Generally, we meet monthly on the second Thursday in the month at 7:00 p.m. at 6 N. Meadowmist Circle, 77381 (Spruce house near the church). Please call Bob Spruce at 936.499.6756 or Roxane Gautreau at 281.255.3958 for more information.
