Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character,
who make the world a better place.
The St. Anthony of Padua Girl Scout Ministry enables young ladies to participate in the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) in program levels designated by their age and grade in school. Ministry coordinators work with the GSSJC Membership Manager to facilitate placing girls in local troops. Membership is open to all girls from Kindergarten through 12th grade and to volunteer adult leaders. All adult volunteers in the Girl Scout Ministry must complete the Archdiocesan VIRTUS training.
Catholic Religious Recognition Medals
The Girl Scout Ministry collaborates with the Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Committee on Girl Scouting to encourage the spiritual development of Catholic Girl Scouts in our Archdiocese and promote youth ministry in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Religious Recognition medals offered through the Archdiocese are:
To earn the Religious Recognition Medals, Girl Scouts are required to register and work with trained moderators. By attending the fall and spring Spiritual Awareness Days, girls complete many of the steps necessary to earn the medals. Medals are presented by one of our diocesan bishops during a special ceremony each April. Please contact Jennifer Elsik for information & registration.
Catholic Spiritual Badge Program
The St. Anthony's Girl Scout Ministry offers a Catholic Spiritual Badge Program in the parish life building one Saturday morning each month from 9:00 - 10:30 AM during the school year. Click here for our 2010-2011 event calendar. This program is designed primarily for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors, and is open to all area Girl Scouts. Older Girl Scouts are invited to join the Ministry core team to earn service & leadership hours by presenting the programs to the younger girls. Each Saturday program is self-contained so that girls may participate as their schedules allow. Spiritual badges have been selected from Pope John Paul II, Footsteps of American Saints, and the Rosary Series. Pre-registration is requested to ensure adequate supplies.
