The Pantry Mission: The St. Anthony's Bread Food Pantry serves all those who ask for and need food. We are guided by the words of Jesus to His flock: "For I was hungry and you fed me." (Matthew 25:35). We do not judge or qualify the need ~ we are here simply to share whatever food we have with those who come to our Pantry door. It is our hope that as members of St. Anthony's Bread, we take the Gospel and Eucharist from the pew to the curb to the neighborhood.
The SAB Food Pantry is open to the public on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 am to Noon, and every Saturday of the month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. While the Food Pantry is closed to the public the other days of the week, there are work crews that bag groceries and stock shelves on those days. The Ministry meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 7:30 to 8:30 pm as a group for prayer and discussion of key issues and topics related to the operation of the Pantry. We generally meet in room 208 of the Parish Life Building.
The SAB Food Pantry Ministry is "campus-based" and operates out of one of the utility buildings behind the Church opposite the playing fields for St. Anthony's Parish school. In 2008, the Food Pantry served over 24,000 men, women, and children. We are a supplement for people in economic distress. We are not a grocery store.
All volunteers are welcome to work in the Food Pantry. Each work day has a crew leader ~ anyone interested in working at a specific time or on a specific day can contact the Paul for more information ~ and you are welcome to attend a monthly Ministry meeting.
